High School Work Study Program

Peabody TV hires local high school students and offers them hands-on experience in covering a variety of community events.

Students will develop valuable life skills

Work study students will participate in a variety of projects over the course of their employment, both in the field and studio. Students will also have the opportunity to create original content for Peabody TV’s Education channel and social media.

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Critical thinking and problem-solving enable students to be independent, make informed decisions, and find innovative solutions in an ever-changing world.

Communication Skills

Social and communication skills are critical to successful interactions, facilitating understanding, empathy, and effective collaboration, ultimately leading to stronger connections and more productive relationships in all aspects of life.

Storytelling

Students will explore the art of storytelling and interviewing, focusing on the profound impact of connecting with others on an emotional level.

Value of Community

Community instills essential values of cooperation, empathy, and collective responsibility, shaping our students into engaged and socially conscious individuals.

Students will discover the significance of teamwork, understanding that each individual plays a crucial role in the collaborative process, and that every contribution is essential to the successful completion of a production.

Understanding Local government

Learning about their local government equips students with the knowledge and civic awareness needed to actively engage in the democratic process, shaping their community’s future and fostering responsible citizenship.

Eligibility

  • Must be a high school student

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Some experience with video a plus

  • Self-starter who can work independently and in a group

  • Great communication skills
